Basic Crochet Beanie

One of my favorite things to make are hats. The possibilities are endless once you know how to make the basic part of the beanie. My kids love when I make hats for them. They love that they can choose the design knowing their hat will be different than anyone else in their class.

Supplies & Stitches
I-hook (5.5 mm)
Worsted yarn
HDC ~ Half-double Crochet


At the end of each round, join your yarn in the first HDC. The chains at the beginning of each round do NOT count as a stitch. When joining HDC stitches in the round like this, your seam will slant. To get a straighter seam, I follow this tutorial by Charmed by Ewe.


Newborn

Magic ring -OR- Ch. 4, join to the first chain to make a loop
